Cyd at Hackers on Planet Earth, the ICE Detention Map, and the Lockdown Systems Collective

This weekend, most of the Lockdown Systems collective will be at Hackers on Planet Earth, a hacker conference in New York City. We'll be giving a talk and a workshop called Claw Back Your Data From Big Tech With Cyd. We'll also be tabling – we have adorable stickers for sale. If you're going to HOPE, come say hi!
We're also excited to announce our new project, the ICE Detention Map. Check it out at watchice.org. While Donald Trump pretends that his mass deportation policy targets "murderers, human traffickers, gang members, and other criminals," ICE's own data proves that he's lying. The vast majority of people detained by ICE – as of this writing, 71% of the 45,000 people that ICE is locking up – have no criminal records.
The ICE Detention Map is a website that visualizes public data that ICE is legally required to publish, and automatically keeps itself up-to-date. If you're in the United States, you can use it to see where your local ICE detention facilities are, how many people are being locked up there, and how many of them don't have criminal records.
If you want to keep receiving updates about Cyd, as well as updates about all of our projects, subscribe to the new newsletter here. Otherwise, you'll stop receiving updates by email.
We hope to see you at HOPE!
