Lockdown Systems

Lockdown Systems Collective

Lockdown Systems creates Cyd, an app to help you claw back your data from Big Tech platforms.

Lockdown Systems is a worker-owned collective that builds freedom and privacy technologies that empower people to take control of their own data, choose what they reveal to the world, and protect themselves from unwanted surveillance. Our solutions can be used by individuals as well as organizations, whether non-profit or for-profit, who seek to protect the data of their members. Lockdown Systems balances commercial sustainability with our mission, focusing on long-term impact over short-term financial gain.

Goals

Ensuring the Well-Being of Our Members

Lockdown Systems commits to ensuring that all members are able to meet their basic needs through a comfortable living wage. This means a safe and respectful work environment, financial stability and work-life balance. When company finances allow, this will include other benefits such as health coverage.

Fighting Fascism and Oppression

Lockdown Systems commits to fight against fascism, authoritarianism and all forms of oppression. Privacy is essential to resist against systems that seek to exploit and control individuals. Oppressive power structures rely on surveillance to monitor behavior and erode personal freedoms. We build technologies that empower individuals to reclaim their autonomy through direct action.

Prioritizing Impact Over Profit

Lockdown Systems is a for-profit company, but we do not exist solely to maximize profit. We open-source technologies where we can to promote transparency. We recognize that our tools are vital for vulnerable groups such as activists, journalists, and non-profits, and we provide discounts and free plans to support as many of these groups as we are able.
